Ask Now provides special education representation and support to parents who are not satisfied with how their school district is handling their child’s special education needs. We help enforce parental and child rights under all special education rights and laws, including the California Education Code. We prepair for and attend IEP meetings, 504 meetings, manifestation hearings, file due process complaints and represent clients, through the process.
Our fears were put to rest when we found Mandy. She explained everything that was going to happen and was always responsive to our questions and concerns. She took the time to explain our options so we could weigh the pros and cons of each and come to a conclusion together. We are truly grateful for all her help and support. I would highly recommend Mandy to anyone needing representation for their child. She was a true professional and know her way around.
Can't say enough Thank you's to Mandy.
For her assistance and patience with us and our never ending school issues.
She has been by our side from day one. Advocating for both of our kids. Both in much better placements and thriving.
She has proven to not let distance get in her way of supporting our family, even in unfamiliar areas.
She is not just knowledgeable in special ed. law, but is also a parent of a child with special needs. She understands the stress and confusion when dealing with schools.
Her dedication, compassion and understanding is what makes her different from other advocates but her knowledge in the law and her direct but civil approach is what makes her the perfect ally when working with the schools.
We are extremely grateful for all her support and will highly recommend her services to anyone having concerns with their child's education.
Mandy has been a great help to us and our family. We were hesitant to hire an advocate because we were worried it would make the situation with the school district more oppositional. This has not been the case at all. Mandy has provided great advice to us, really seems to understand our situation, and works very well with the district. She also knows quite a bit about the schools in the area as well. Lastly, it is great just to be able to talk to someone who is really on our side and who knows what we are going through.
Mandy is awesome!
I was hesitant to hire an advocate, both due to financial considerations and not knowing what to expect, but I am so glad I did. I took the advice of the Director of a local private school who had previously worked with Mandy and gave her a call. She understood my son's needs immediately, made me feel heard and validated in my concerns, and feel comfortable in moving forward together.
Mandy is the ideal advocate - knowledgable, experienced, assertive, but also builds a professional rapport with all concerned. Mandy asks all the questions that I don't even know that I need to ask.
She has done classroom observations, attended IEP/placement meetings, and served as a sounding board when I didn't know who else to turn to with my concerns about my son's school. Mandy knows all the ins and outs of the special education system and is familiar with various school districts in the area. She continues to be a tireless partner in ensuring my son receives the services he needs, has the most appropriate school placement, and has IEP goals which further his educational and functional growth.
I'd like to give the strongest possible recommendation for Mandy. She is a very supportive, knowledgable, inventive advocate. She gives sound and rational advise, and can provide great assistance during IEP meetings. Our son was very lucky to be represented by Mandy during his recent change of schools. I am grateful for her help, and will happily tell any and all that she is a fantastic choice if your child needs representation.
I honestly don't know where to start or how to show my extreme gratitude to this amazing individual. I am a mother of a 10 year old, high functioning, autistic boy. He's brilliant in everything he attempts (social skills, sports, video games, all his interests, etc.) but his school was failing him (academically) and he was at a 1st grade reading level. Everyday I worried about my son's future. Finally, even though out of my budget to do something like this, I decided to work with an advocate. Each year the IEP goals were a joke. I couldn't let any more time or empty promises to me and my son continue. After all we pay for this public school system. Mandy came highly recommended by a school who was able to provide a history of successful placements after working with Mandy. Immediately after contacting her she made me feel like she really cared. She shared her history and she had been in my shoes. She is highly knowledgeable in this area and had been through this process many times. She got to work immediately, knew the district we were in and they respected her. Almost immediately, they gave us what we were working towards. If you are looking for an advocate for your special needs child, don't wait any longer. Our children with special needs with fight this fight for a long time. Its our duty as parents to provide them with the tools and academics they need and deserve. Look no further, Mandy can help!.
Thank you Mandy for being the most professional & knowledgeable child advocate for our child with special needs. Our child had a 504 for years, but was still struggling in school & on test scores.
We paid for outside tutoring (which was expensive and showing little result). With Mandy's instrumental help our child was finally diagnosed with verifiable learning disabilities and a processing disorder.
She helped with getting an iep in public school and accommodations so that our child will thrive and learn at school. He will also receive summer academic support thanks to her knowledge and advocacy.
Most importantly she is sincere in her help and doesn't make you feel dismissed in any of your concerns. She knows the legalities of children with a variety of special needs and I can genuinely say helped us make strides in our child's education. I know moving forward our child's school experience will be impacted by her positive proactive approach.
I would recommend Mandy to anyone needing help for their child and needing a strong advocate on your side
Mandy is very knowledgable of the IEP process. She has extensive experience dealing with different school districts. She does a great job prepping me before the meeting by setting my expectation, and explaining our game plan. She was able to foresee which route the school may take such that we are better prepared and I was not hit by a nasty surprise.
Mandy has very good manner during IEP meetings. Unfortunately we had to deal with some very abrasive personnels. Mandy handled the intimidation and bullying professionally and politely. However, she did not let them muffled her by asking legitimate and important questions in various forms.
She is understanding of the pressure and worry parents feel while dealing with the school district. She would patiently let me know not to stress about it when I start to think too much. She always responded assertively and confidently when the school came up with unnecessary suggestions or demands to cause stress or fears.
Mandy did a classroom observation for my son and identified lots of the area he needed support where he was not getting. She had seen so many assessments and reports that she knew what is decent and what is not.
When school dragged out our IEE request, Mandy knew what to do to push the process along to get their approval sooner.
Even our SARC case manager commented that Mandy knew really well of what she was doing after attending one of our IEP meetings.
At the time of this writing, we are working with numerous professionals to get our IEE done. It has been a long process. I cannot imagine what kind of pressure I would be under, or how my son will end up if Mandy hasn't been there to help us this year.
My husband and have had a great relationship working with Mandy. In such a short time, we learned so much about the IEP process through Mandy. Mandy has an extremely strong understanding of how the system works, the laws, and what's needed to help your child. While it's great to learn some of what Mandy knows, I'm grateful to have her by our side for these meetings so that I can also wear the mom hat and know that we are fully covered.
Mandy and Ask Now are exactly what we needed to help us navigate a change in school districts, the start of kinder, and a long-standing IEP debate over services and placement for our son. Mandy is SO helpful in talking through "what if" scenarios, helping understand why the school district responds the way it does, and how to sincerely yet firmly advocate for my son. She is one of the most kind-hearted, knowledgeable and loyal individuals you will ever meet. You will be lucky to have her in your corner...guaranteed!
Ask now Advocacy Group was highly recommended to me. I reached out to Mandy, who was responsive, supportive and attentive to our situation. I was entrenched in a battle with our local school and the district and was failing at the system for the first time in my life.
Although, I have successfully maneuvered through the system with my severe learning disabled child, this situation left me hopeless and abandoned by my school district that I fought so hard to praise. The outlook on my situation looked bleak until Ask Now Advocacy Group came to our rescue. Mandy took into consideration my son, his disability, his current plan, our financial situation, the severity of our case, the legal concerns and the desired outcome. Through many battles with the school and district, Ask Now Advocacy Group was able to help our family and the district find a solution that benefited my son and he is now happy and striving forward in school.
In addition to all her help with the school, Mandy is also concerned about our children's social skills and the parent's network and plans/ notifies her clients about events in the local area.
if you are seeking someone who is kind, considerate, smart and has your child's best interest at heart and will fight to get what is right. STOP and call Ask Now Advocacy Group
